‘Title’ Jayaraman’s lettering style plagiarised

It was Jayaraman’s creative hands that were behind the title credits of a movie
At a time when computers were hardly in use and there was no advanced technology available, Jayaraman, often referred as ‘Title Jayaraman’ created a huge buzz in Tamil cinema. It was Jayaraman’s creative hands that were behind the title credits of a movie.
His lettering style impressed many producers and he hogged the limelight during the 70s and 80s. Not just this, he has worked in a record-breaking 1,000 films. Some of his films include Sakalakala Vallavan, Paayum Puli, Murattu Kaalai and Moondram Pirai.
The irony is that his lettering style composed for films like Aboorva Ragangal, Punnagai Mannan and Nootrukku Nooru are being used as Tamil fonts with the same name without his permission today. Popular ad filmmaker Lekha Rathnakumar who has worked with Jayaraman three decades ago for his commercial Idhayam recently found out about this plagiarism. After felicitating Jayaraman at an event, Lekha voiced his concern over the issue and alerted the veteran who is totally cut off from the cinema world now.
