Hyderabad: A 38-year-old mentally ill woman and her daughter committed suicide by jumping into the Musi river from the bridge in Kacheguda on Saturday. Police recovered the body of the child.
The woman, Lakshmi, was married to one Deepak Kumar, a native of Assam. They and their 4-year-old daughter Malathi were staying in Krishnanagar. Deepak is a chef at a hotel near Kacheguda railway station.
Lakshmi became mentally ill a few months ago after a piles operation and used to start fights at home.
“On Saturday morning, she jumped into the Musi from the bridge near Kamela. We recovered the body of the child. We are trying to trace the woman's body,” said inspector Rajkumar.
GHMC deployed special teams to trace the body of the woman.
