Subhash Chandran bags Vayalar award

Manushyanu Oru Aamukham is the first novel penned by Subhash Chandran

Thiruvananthapuram: Writer Subhash Chandran’s Manushyanu Oru Aamukham has been selected for this year’s Vayalar award by a jury headed by M.K. Sanu. The prize money has been raised from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, Mr Sanu announced at a press conference.

Manushyanu Oru Aamukham is the first novel penned by Subhash Chandran. The novel was first published in Mathrubhumi Weekly in 2009. It was later published as a book by DC Books in 2010. He also won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award in 2014 for the same novel.

Subhash Chandran has won various other awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Odakkuzhal Award, V.P. Sivakumar-Keli Award and Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award.

His other works include Parudeesa Nashtam, Talpam, Bloody Mary, Vihitham, Madhyeyingane, Kanunna Nerath and Das Capital.

He is the first and only writer who has received the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for both his debut story collection and the debut novel in 2001 and 2011 respectively.
