Hyderabad: In Karimnagar, RTC bus services were halted for five hours due to the dharna staged by protesters. State Mahila Congress president Nerella Sharada, TPCC coordinator D. Sridhar Babu, former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and others tried to block buses by staging a sit-in at Karimnagar depot.
The police took them to preventive custody and the services resumed at around 10 am.
In Warangal, business establishments, petrol pumps and banks were closed and RTC buses stayed off the road till the afternoon.
Mild tension prevailed at the Hanamkonda bus depot as police arrested leaders who blocked the entrance.
In Nizamabad, RTC buses were stranded in the six depots for many hours. Shops, banks etc. remained closed in towns till afternoon.
