Mishap avoided as the boulder fell on edge of the road

Tirupati: Even as the TTD officials were taking various steps to prevent landslides on the second ghat road, a boulder landed on the edge of the road at 8th kilometer on Saturday.
However the movement of vehicles was not affected as the boulder fell on the road edge close to parapet wall. Some commuters informed the tollgate staff about the incident and they alerted the vigilance and engineering wings. A crane was rushed to the spot and the boulder weighing about 1 ton was removed.
Mr Naveen Kumar, a frequent motorcycle rider from Tirupati to Tirumala said that they were scared to drive on the ghat road because of the frequent landslides. “Those travelling in buses or cars are safe compared to motorcyclists” he said.
