Jayalalithaa to meet district secretaries Monday
Party general secretary will be accepting greetings from the new district secretaries
Chennai: After making a series of 31 populist 110 announcements in the recently concluded Assembly session, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has now intensified her focus on her party. The AIADMK supremo is to meet the newly elected party district secretaries on Mon-day and will chalk out poll strategies for the polls scheduled next year.
All 50 district secretaries including state ministers are now doing their homework collecting and upgrading basic details of their districts. With 14 new district secretaries being changed and the party leader instructing cadres to extend their support and coordinate with the newly appointed office-bearers, the mood is upbeat among the cadres with party posters mushrooming across the city.
One such party poster taking a dig at the incumbent sacked district secretary in Central Chennai read, “Arasan andru kolvan, deivam nindru kollum” (akin to man proposes, god disposes) and thanked the party chief for putting up new office-bearers in Chennai.
The party general secretary will be accepting greetings from the new district secretaries and will be instructing them on the next phase of party work. Similarly a few changes at the party state-level posts are also expected. The new officebearers will assume office on Wednesday considered to be auspicious day, sources said.
“An interesting fact about our party is periodical shuffling of office-bearers. When situation arises, Amma sanitises the party by removing those facing charges. Change of district secretaries in Chennai particularly ahead of polls will only strengthen the party as young blood and new set of office-bearers had always been AIADMK’s strength, unlike the DMK, where top posts are preferentially given to a chosen few”, said an AIADMK MLA.
