AP Sunni faction’s Muslim Jamaat soft to the BJP
Sources said that the AP Sunni faction has close links with the Sangh Parivar outfits
MALAPPURAM: The AP Sunni faction launched its mass organisation, the Kerala Muslim Jamaat (KMJ), here on Friday. It is thought to be a move to increase its bargaining power at a time when the BJP is planning a third front in the state bringing in various fringe elements.
Announcing the birth of the outfit, Kanthapuram A.P. Abubacker Muzaliyar said that the organisation would serve the community in tune with the changing times.
“Along with religious scholars and prominent citizens, those who have proved their mettle in various fields would be members of the organization,” he said. It will assist the community in fighting against outdated customs and the spread of extremism.
A workers' body on the line of trade unions is also in the offing. There is speculation that the organisation would end up in the saffron stable.
The faction has never criticized the saffron brigade and even during the Gujarat carnage the leadership kept mum, it is alleged.
Sources said that the AP Sunni faction has close links with the Sangh Parivar outfits. It has received good patronage from the Modi regime in Gujarat and even during the anti-Muslim riots the institutions of the sect were safe.
It was also alleged that the BJP regime helped Kanthapuram in coming clear of the murder of rebel religious scholar Chekannur Moulavi.
The CBI only confirmed that Moulavi was killed but failed to identify the murderer. There were allegations that Markaz, the headquarters of the AP Sunni sect, was behind the murder.
