It’s been more than a decade since Nayanthara debuted as a leading lady in K’town, but it was only recently, she did something, which she has never done before! All these years, just like many of the other heroines, her voice was dubbed by dubbing artistes. The latest buzz is that, Nayanthara has dubbed for herself in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan starring Vijay Sethupathi, where she’s said to play a hearing-impaired character.
Vignesh Shivan, the director, wrote on Twitter, “Thank u to my amazing Heroine Nayanthara for takin the effort to dub wit her own voice fr the first time. Respect (sic).” A source from the film unit says, the actress was never interested to dub in her own voice, but eventually agreed after her close friend, director Vignesh (who she was rumoured to have been dating) convinced her.
“Nayanthara is quite fluent in Tamil and this time, the crew is glad that she dubbed for herself. She realised the importance of dubbing her own voice as it would help the performance much more,” the source tells us. The source also adds that nowadays directors want something different and encourage heroines to dub for themselves, so that the audience could connect well with what’s happening on screen. Naanum Rowdy Dhaan has Parthiepan, Raadhika, RJ Balaji, and Rajendran in pivotal roles and is produced by Dhanush under the banner of Wunderbar films.
