‘I’ll try my best to improve’

Athiya says that she takes all negative feedback as ‘constructive criticism’
Her debut film Hero did not exactly create the desired effect at the box office, but Athiya Shetty is not one to be discouraged. She says she would like to take all feedback she has got as “constructive criticism”. “With good comes bad. So I’m glad that some people have loved me and for those who didn’t like me, I will try my best to improve.”
Ask her about her contemporaries who inspire her and Athiya tells us that she loves Tiger Shroff’s never-say-die attitude. “I’ve known Tiger since I was a child. He’s amazing and super hard working. Even as an actor, I admire how he’s handling his movies and the way he takes feedback positively.”
Athiya’s unconventional looks got her mixed reactions during the release of her debut film. But she seems to be having the last laugh, now that she has been signed to be the face of an international cosmetics brand. The young actress says that she has learnt to take all kinds of comments in her stride. “I think it’s every girls dream to be associated with a leading beauty brand,” she said, adding, “I recall as a child I was obsessed with
lipsticks. When my mother wouldn’t be at home, I’d go to her room and try out different shades of lip colour from her collection. Later I’d beg her to buy me some. That was my introduction to makeup. Whatever sense of style I have got is from my mother (Mana Shetty). She’s stunning even in a simple white shirt and her standard kajal.”
As for her own personal taste, Athiya is quite the retro girl. “I like that the 70s is back in fashion. The flared jeans and people wearing it differently. I have been experimenting with 70s style makeup too, and have become quite a fan.”
With regards to her next project, Athiya says she has been reading scripts but hasn’t finalised anything yet.
