Naidu launches e-Pragati that brings all citizen services under one roof

Visakhapatnam: Laying thrust on using technology to transform governance, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched e-Pragati, an enterprise digital platform which will integrate all government departments and ministries that provide citizen services here on Friday.

E-Pragati has been dev-eloped by the IT giant Wipro. The first phase of the services will be available by early November and all the services by September 2017. At the launch, Mr Naidu explained how using technology can save money.

He said by using the E-Pass, in the Public Distribution System, government could plug the gaps and was able to save around Rs 1,500 crore per annum. He added within the months, every household in the state will have 15 mbps bandwidth connectivity.

“E-Pragati is a huge digital dream. I strongly bel-ieve that, for efficiency IT is the way. Am ready to create a conducive eco system in AP like I did in Hyderabad. During the TD government, HiTec City was built in record time in the PPP mode. A world class airport, the ISB, Outer Ring Road, hospitals, shopping malls and hotels were established during my tenure in Hyderabad. I created an economy which generated income to the government,” Mr Naidu said.

Stressing that the future lies in technology, Mr Naidu said that, it took 30 years for certain Southeast Asian countries to become leaders in the field. With the latest technology, India can become a giant in less than 15 years. He said the state government would promote incubation and innovative centres.

All land records across the state will be digitised within three months. As part of last mile connectivity, electric poles will be used to provide broadband connectivity and also underground cabling work will be taken up as part of Digital India campaign at a cost of '6,000 crore. White space technology would be used in remote areas for internet connectivity. He said with the help of IT giant HP, the government would use cloud technology to improve hospitals. Government IT adviser J. Satyanrayana explained the features of e-Pragati.
