Uber introduces new safety feature app
Uber claims that the new Help feature is a more convenient way to trigger a real-time safety emergency alert to Uber
Kochi: The app- based car sharing service Uber has introduced a new ‘Help Function’ as an upgrade to its safety features in the country. The new app helps riders to inform the local police station and Uber in case of an emergency.
An intimation in this regard has been sent to all its previous customers via email. Uber now has replaced the in-app SOS button with a Help Function for all riders.
With the new update a rider can now send the status to share live GPS location and complete trip information (driver photo, name, vehicle type, licence number) with pre-selected emergency contacts.
Uber claims that the new Help feature is a more convenient way to trigger a real-time safety emergency alert to Uber, the local authorities and loved ones in case of an emergency or incident during an Uber trip.
Uber added that the latest upgrade is part of their endeavour to keep riders safe before, during, and after a ride with them.
According to Uber, once the Safety Emergency function is triggered, riders will have the option to connect with the police via a phone call. Instant alerts with complete rider, driver and trip information are sent to the local police authorities in cities.
An automated text message is also sent to pre-selected Emergency Contacts with detailed trip status; allowing them to monitor the trip in real-time via GPS.
The government the other day had imposed stringent rules for the services like Uber, including registered offices in the respective states.
