Fate of three abducted TD men unknown
Visakhapatnam: Families, relatives and friends of the three TD members who were kidnapped by Maoists five days ago held demonstrations at GK Veedhi and Chintapalle area in Vizag Agency on Friday, demanding their release.
Tribal leaders of various associations and unions urged the TD government to take steps for the release of the trio as locals have no clue on the whereabouts of the kidnapped and tribal leaders failed to establish contact with the ultras. The leaders of all parties conducted a rally at Pedavalasa village in GK Veedhi mandal in protest against proposed bauxite mining in the agency. They raised slogans against the government and urged it not to ruin their lives by excavating bauxite.
On the other hand, cops have been making all possible efforts to trace the abducted leaders. According to sources, Maoists are expecting a statement from either the AP CM or senior minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu from the district about cancellation of proposed bauxite mining.
Superintendent of police Visakha Rural Dr Koya Praveen said that unless the Maoists came up with their demands, nothing could be done from the police side. The SP also clarified that the abduction would not cast a shadow on the CM’s visit to Arakuvalley Octobet 12.
