AP files SLP on funds frozen by Telangana government

AP government is looking for all possible ways to mobilise funds

Hyderabad: To overcome the financial crisis the AP government is looking for all possible ways to mobilise funds. One prime source is the Rs 2,000 crore belonging to shared educational institutions that has been frozen by the TS. AP officials cannot operate the accounts of these institutions; the AP government claims that it has a share of 52 per cent on the basis of population.


According to this, the AP government will get about Rs 1,100 crore. AP officials said that the Telangana government has frozen '350 crore of the Higher Education Council, Rs 800 crore of the Intermediate Board, Rs 417 crore of the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University and '25 crore of the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Apart from these TS has also frozen the accounts of some other institutions.


The AP government has filed a special leave petition on the funds of Higher Education Council. If the SC gives favourable directions, the AP government will file SLPs on funds of other institutions also. L. Prem Chandra Reddy, AP government secretary told DC that the SC had given four weeks to TS to file a counter to the SLP. After TS filed its counter, AP will have two weeks to file a rejoinder. The court posted the matter to November 30.
