Backstreet Boys are retiring?
Backstreet Boys band member Nick Carter responded to the rumours surrounding a possible joint tour with the Spice Girls and while he got us excited, saying it’s a “cool idea”, he also said he thinks it would be the band’s “last hurrah”.
“I actually did a little Twitter shout-out to Mel B because we’re friends and I said, ‘Hey this could be a cool idea. What if we did a Backstreet Boys-Spice Girls tour?’” Nick told E! News.
“And there were talks in the past about it and we had done the New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys tour in the past. I think this would be that last hurrah — the two big groups from the late 90s. Maybe do a world tour, stadiums, stuff like that and do a package together. It's just an idea.”
Fans were not thrilled about the Backstreet Boys retiring. But as far as the tour is concerned, most of the other guys seem on board with the idea, too.
AJ McLean recently told Rolling Stone magazine that the band has been toying with the idea of touring with Spice Girls for a while.
“The Spice Girls tour has been this idea bouncing around for the past year and a half, and it’s something we're still talking about,” he said.
In March 2014, Brian Littrell allegedly told The Sun that the band is in “early talks” to do a world tour with Spice Girls.
