Lalu Prasad Yadav challenges PM Modi
Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prove that he had made the shaitan (devil) on his tongue comment or else seek apology from the people of Bihar for insulting them through this barb against him. “I challenge Modi to show me my shaitan (devil) comment or else publicly apologise to the people of Bihar for insulting them by his barb against me,” Prasad tweeted.
During his election meetings at Munger and Begusarai in Bihar, Modi played up Lalu’s reported comment of shaitan (devil) entering his tongue which made him make the beef comment.
Launching a strong counter-attack on Modi, the RJD chief tweeted, “Modi should not add insult to Bihar through figment of his shaitan. I challenge Modi and a few of his sycophant mediapersons to show me my statement on it (shaitan).”
The RJD chief's “Hindus too eat beef” comment in the wake of killing of a Muslim man in a Greater Noida village over rumour of cow slaughter has drawn huge condemnation for him. A Muzaffarpur court has directed police to register an FIR against Prasad for his remark.
Seeking to link the issue with the pride of backwards and dalits, Lalu said in his message on the micro-blogging site that “Modi called all Dalits and backwards a shaitan (devil) ...you are trying to hide behind shaitan out of frustration with backwards and dalits rallying behind us.”
Similarly, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laughed at BJP’s poll promise of providing two-wheelers to 5000 meritorious school girls, and asked if the saffron party was planning to send minor girls to police station by driving two-wheelers without license. Meanwhile, the AAP attacked Prime Minister for invoking caste in his address at an election rally in Bihar.
