Soil in Amaravati poses risk to VIPs
Hyderabad: Senior AP police officials have written to Revenue authorities to ensure that all mud roads leading to the venue of the foundation stone laying ceremony for the capital are converted into bitumen roads in view of VIP security.
A top AP police official said, The entire area has alluvial and loose cotton soil and there are no proper roads. It will be a huge security risk to VIPs if the roads are not laid properly; and the venue has to be concretised. We have written to the Guntur district collector to ensure that the roads are laid properly.”
Police said unless the roads were clear, it would be difficult to take up anti-sabotages checks and minesweeping.
MLA of the capital area, Mr T. Sravan Kumar, said, “If the roads are not laid properly, the buses carrying farmers attending the capital foundation day and heavy, bulletproof vehicles of VIPs may get struck in the mud. District authorities are taking care of this aspect. We are also going to have rain-proof tents.”
Advisor (communications) Mr Parakala Prabhakar said, “We are bringing earth from all 13,000 villages and 3000 municipal wards for the foundation. Cultural programmes will be conducted from October 13 to 21. We are expecting several diplomats to take part and we are extending invites to all diplomatic missions in the country. We are expecting high-level dignitaries from Singapore and Japan also.”
