85 percent students turn up at HCU polls

The counting will be done and results declared on Friday

HYDERABAD: Student union elections in University of Hyderabad registered a huge turnout, with 85 per cent of the 4,446 registered voters exercised their franchise on Thursday.

The counting will be done and results declared on Friday. The elections were peaceful. The contest was a three-cornered one between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and two alliances -- one led by the Students’ Federation of India and the other by the Ambedkar Students Association. Students started lining up in the morning around 9 am when the voting started, which continued till 5 pm.
