Watch: What divorces would look like if they were ‘arranged’

So the 'Roka' becomes the 'Roko' ceremony over here

Many people, especially those from the younger lot, seem to have an aversion to the way most marriages are ‘arranged’ in India. Some go on to trash the entire concept involving elaborate traditions as totally insincere with zero emotions involved.

This video is an interesting and hilarious take on what divorces would look like if they were ‘arranged’ in the way marriages are in many Indian households. It imagines that such a ceremony would be called Roko instead Roka (the word for engagement). Relatives would be fed karela (bitter gourd) instead of sweetmeats and even the dupatta ritual would involve a pair of scissors to symbolically separate the unhappy couple.

The video is not just meant for tickling your funny bone, some of the exchanges between the characters are a clever comment on the many hypocrisies that have unfortunately become part of the tradition during many ‘arranged marriages’ in the country.
