Yesteryear hero Ramki, who is back in action in K’town, escaped unhurt while shooting for a car chase sequence at ECR for his upcoming flick English Padam. The movie, touted to be a horror thriller, started shooting recently and is directed by debutant Kumaresh Kumar. While Sanjeev of Kulir 100 Degrees fame plays the male lead, Sreeja Das and Meenakshi essay the leading ladies.
Recently, the crucial climax car chase scene was shot with action choreographer Stunt Vijay helming the affair at the ECR. According to the scene, Ramki’s car would be chased by Sanjeev’s car and at one point, the former would jump out of his running car to escape the latter.
Despite the director advising that they use a body double, Ramki refused and wanted to do it by himself. As the shot was being canned, even as Ramki was about to jump out of his speeding car, the one that was following broke down and rammed into the preceding car. “It was just the fraction of a second in which everything happened. I had a close shave when the speeding car passed only a few inches from me — a real close call,” Ramki shrugs. The actor who is said to be playing a role with a tinge of shades appears sporting a salt-n-pepper hairstyle and a grey beard.
