Sanjay Dutt to play Kabuliwala in Sujoy Ghosh's next?
Mumbai: There have been incessant rumours about what’s going to be Sanjay Dutt’s first project post his release from jail. According to reports, Sujoy Ghosh met Sanjay when he was home during his month-long parole recently, to act in a modern-day version of Kabuliwala (1961). However, the actor hasn't given a nod of approval to the project yet.
Apparently, the role was first offered to Amitabh Bachchan, but the actor had already alloted his dates to other projects. The original 'Kabuliwala', based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore is directed by Hemen Gupta and revolves around the friendship between a middle-aged dryfruit seller and a little Bengali girl.
Also, putting all speculation to rest, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani revealed that he is indeed working on the third instalment of the Munna Bhai film series. Sanjay also took keen interest in the developments of his biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film will go on floors in 2016.
