Tullur to host Andhra Pradesh’s maiden session
Vijayawada: The first Assembly session within AP after the bifurcation of the state will be held at Tullur in Guntur district, at the place where the bhoomi puja was performed for the construction of Amaravati. All previous sessions have been held in Hyderabad. The session is scheduled for the last week of December.
Sources said CM N. Chandrababu Naidu had approved a proposal put forward by Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao to this effect.
“The proposal has been under consideration for quite some time and the Speaker has also mooted a short session at Tullur. The idea is to give a sense of ‘our own’ feeling. In all probability, it may be held at Tullur but I am awaiting official word,” Mr Mandali Buddha Prasad, Deputy Speaker, told Deccan Chronicle.
Accommodation for MLAs will be provided at Hailand and government guest houses at Vijayawada and Guntur, according to the proposal.
The responsibility of making a makeshift Assembly and transport facilities and the MLAs’ stay will be entrusted to a consultancy, which would be identified later.
