Speeding truck driver lost control at curve
Driver was negligent, cops suspect that he was totally drunk
Hyderabad: Officials who investigated the Nalgonda bus mishap said the truck driver’s negligence was responsible for the massive collision. The truck was moving very fast and the driver could not control the vehicle when it reached the curve. The truck driver is absconding and the police suspect that he was drunk while driving. “The truck driver was moving so fast that he could not control the vehicle. The bus driver went to the extreme left as he saw the truck coming towards him. However, the truck moved further towards the right and rammed into the right side of the bus,” said additional SP B. Ganga Ram. Most of the dead people were sitting behind the driver’s seat and died on the spot.
“The truck tore the right side of the bus and seriously injured people who were sitting on that side. Most of them suffered head injuries and died on the spot,” said the officer. As the bus turned over many got trapped and suffered injuries. The bus was going towards Nalgonda from Bhongir and the truck was going to Haryana. “Its registration shows that the truck belongs to Haryana. It was carrying books. We have not found any documents regarding ownership of the vehicle,” said Mr Ganga Ram. Police thinks the trucker suffered only minor injuries and could flee.
Truck driver absconding, cops file case:
The truck driver fled from the spot soon after the incident. Police booked a case and has launched a search for him. Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed deep shock over the road mishap. He directed the district collector and SP to ensure proper treatment for the injured. The home minister and road transport minister visited the spot.
