Hyderabad: Excise officials on Wednesday arrested 22 people from Hyderabad for selling illicitly distilled liquor. Officials raided several places in Dhoolpet and confiscated liquor and ingredients to make the same. Twenty one cases have been booked against the sellers under various sections.
Senior police officials said that the raids were conducted by placing personnel at Bhoiguda Kaman, Muslim Jung Bridge, Ghode Ki Khabar, Dattatreya Pahad and Jummerat Bazar. Five teams conducted searches in Upper Dhoolpet, Lower Dhoolpet, Mangar Basti, Karwan and Gudimalkapur. These teams thoroughly searched all suspected places and persons involved in manufacture, transportation and sale of illicitly distilled liquor,? said Mr MMA Farooqui, deputy commissioner of Prohibition and Excise.
Officials seized contraband of 105 litre, 3023 ID sachets and 3400 litre of FJ wash (a chemical added in Gudumba). Extra teams were placed in and around the area to check the movement of vehicles and people. Officials said that citizens could also report to the Excise department if they came across instances of ID liquor smuggling or manufacturing at the toll free number 1800-425-2523.
