Best film award winner threatens fast

The film had also won the NETPAC award

Thiruvananthapuram: Mr Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, recipient of state best film director award for ‘Oraalpokkam,’ will go on an indefinite fast if the Kerala State Film Development Corporation shunted out his film from its theatres on the grounds of other films in queue. The film had also won the NETPAC award, special Jury Award, John Abraham Award and Aravindan Puraskaram in 2014.

Mr Sasidharan told DC that the KSFDC had informed him that his film playing at state-owned theatres Nila, Thiruvananthapuram, Kairali, Thrissur and Kairali, Kozhikode, would be shifted from Thursday. The film had two shows at Nila at 11.30 p.m and 2.30 p.m, one show at Kairali, Thrissur at 2.30 p.m and one show at Kozhikode at 4 p.m. daily.

Mr Sasidharan in his Facebook post said that 582 persons had already seen the film in the three theatres put together during the last five days since it was released on October 2.

The news of the KSFDC removing the film from the theatres came as his second film ‘Ozhivudivasathe Kalli’ was selected for the Mumbai film festival. The film was being removed by the KSFDC when commercial films with less audience was being given a second week, Mr Sasidharan said.
