'Rani Laxmibai' being shelved is just rumour: Kangana Ranaut
Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut has rubbished reports that her Ketan Mehta-directed biopic, 'Rani Laxmibai' is being shelved.
The 28-year-old actress, who is currently in London to speak at the Women in the World summit, was shocked after she heard the news and decided to clear the air.
"We are in Paris on our way to London when we got the news and we immediately called Ketan Sir as we were worried about the project. This is a magnum opus and it needs at least one year of pre-production which has started in full swing.
"We all have invested way too much in the film. Naturally, we panicked but in the past, too, we have been a victim of such fabricated stories which were spread to harm our projects," Kangana said in a statement.
Filmmaker Ketan Mehta, who finds the 'Queen' star perfect for the role, assured that the project on the Maratha warrior queen is on schedule.
"I want to laugh about these rumours floating in the industry. The film is very much happening as per schedule," he said.
The film will go on floors next year.
Apart from the biopic, Kangana is also working on Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Rangoon' alongside Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan and Hansal Mehta's 'Simran'.
