Jubilee Station roads to get facelift

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for the facelift of Jubilee Bus Station

Hyderabad: Jubilee Bus Station is set for a facelift with the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) sanctioning Rs 60 lakh for new roads. This will also include proper segregation of parking areas within the JBS.

The road from Stop & Go bakery through Secunderabad Club to JBS will be widened where necessary. The SCB was waiting for the Metro Rail pillar work to be completed.

Earlier, with earth excavation for the Metro Rail pillars at (JBS) going on, traffic on the Rajiv Rahadari (Secunderabad Club-Patny) was being chaotic.

There was no alternative route to divert traffic. District buses was not prevented from entering or exiting JBS. Commuters had no option but to bear with the problem for several weeks.

The traffic congestion was worst when metro work was on between Picket Garden and YMCA junction as the road width was just 40 feet.

P. Nalini Kiran, ward 4 member, SCB, explained, “In the first phase, new roads will be laid; at a certain stretched, this work has already been executed.”

SCB authorities had, in a recent board meeting, granted Rs 30 lakh for each road, that is between Ganesh Temple Marredpally Stop and Go Bakery, as also Secunderabad Club and Jubliee Bus Station.

The work on the road in front of Kendriya Vidyalaya School is being executed. Road widening will include land acquisition.

The board would decide on the funds part. As of now, Rs 60 lakh is sanctioned for new roads.

Around 900 city services (buses) are plying between Secunderabad Railway Station and Bolarum, Alwal and other surrounding areas en route Parade Grounds, JBS, Karkhana and Trimulgherry everyday.

Illumination has also been a main problem, as street lights from the central median were removed to give way for the pillars.

However, HMR authorities state that the central median streetlights have to be shifted on the stretch between SCB check-post and YMCA junction.
