Nearly 50 percent of women get depressed after having sex, study claims

Around 5.1 percent reported experiencing the conditions several times

Experts have discovered that surprisingly almost half of all women have experienced sadness after sex at some point of their lives, reprts the Daily Mail. The study found that many women suffered from ‘post-sex blues’, a condition marked by symptoms like tearfulness, anxiety, depression, or even aggression after sex.

The researchers, led by Dr Robert Schweitzer of Queensland University of Technology, examined 230 sexually active women aged between 18 and 55, who were questioned on how often they experienced such conditions after sex. It was found that 46 percent of the respondents said that they had felt post-sex blues at least once in their lifetime, with 5.1 percent having symptoms of the condition several times within the preceding four weeks.

The findings, which were published in Sexual Medicine, also revealed no connection between the level of intimacy between sexual partners and the prevalence of post-sex blues.
