In a tragic case, a baby born with only one eye, in the middle of his forehead and no nose, might not be able to survive for more than a few days, according to report by Saudi Arabian website slaati.com.
The baby was born at private hospital in the north-eastern town of El Senbellawein in Egypt. It is believed that the infant is suffering from a rare birth defect known as ‘cyclopia’, which is named after the mythical one-eyed creatures in Greek mythology. Doctors believe that the deformity could have been caused by a combination of medicines taken by the mother or from exposure to radiation.
Dr Ahmed Badruddin, who is monitoring the baby’s condition at the hospital, said that the newborn has full head of hair, large ears and many other deformities on his body.
