TRS leaders are blatantly breaking rules for the birthday of a minister

Hyderabad: Despite a High Court order to remove all flexibpards and banners declaring that disfigurement of public places is an offence, TRS leaders are blatantly breaking rules for the birthday of a minister. Huge cut-outs and banners of commercial taxes minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who is celebrating his 50th birthday on Tuesday, have been put up, breaking all rules. Walls, electric poles and Metro Rail pillars have been defaced with his posters.
Lalit Kumar, an IT professional said, “The posters are an eyesore, they have been put up everywhere.” Section 4 of the Prevention of Disfigurement of Open Places and Prohibition of Obscene and Objectionable and Advertisements Act, 1997 makes the disfigurement of any public or private place an offence punishable with imprisonment which may extend up to three months.
The GHMC denied giving any permission to put up the posters but it has not taken any action to remove them. GHMC Circle 18 deputy commissioner E.D. Vijayraju said, “No permission was taken to put up the posters. The posters will definitely be removed. We will take action.” Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier said there has to be political will and a voluntary ban by political leaders on putting up poster. He had announced that no posters displaying him or his colleagues’ will be permitted on Metro Rail pillars and other public places in the city.
