Group of three caught the autorickshaw driver with the help of locals

Hyderabad: Three young women waylaid a ‘errant’ auto driver in the middle of the road at Panjagutta and immobilized him with the help of locals. However, as the police arrived, the women left the place without lodging any a complaint of eve-teasing. Accused R. Karunakar, 27, however insisted that he did not harass the women but only sought an apology from them for riding their bide in a rash and negligent manner. All the three women were riding a scooter, but the police did not take any action against them, he complained.
The Panjagutta police booked a case against the auto driver, a resident of Sagar Ring Road, for eve-teasing and also under the motor vehicles act for driving without a licence. The case was booked following a complaint from a passerby, who filmed the heated exchange between the three women and the auto driver.
The incident occurred at Raj Bhavan road in the afternoon. The accused allegedly followed the women and teased them. “He also got into an argument with them and rudely behaved with them,” Panjagutta police inspector Mr. S. Mohan Kumar said. As the women and Karunakar were engaged in the argument, people gathered at the spot and called in the police. Cops took him to the police station. Meanwhile, the women left from the spot without giving any complaint. Police is on the lookout for the women to take the case forward.
