Trekking to Kumara Parvatha
Twenty-two trekkers and a trip to the hills of Kumara Parvatha in Karnataka
Formed in 2008 by trekking enthusiasts Animesh Hazra, Srikanth V.S.S.S. Jiddu, Gourav Bhaduri and Srikanth Pernkulam, Hydventura organises treks to various places, exploring nature.
Last weekend, a trip was organised to Kumara Parvatha, or Pushpagiri, Karnataka. “It was a 22-member team, of whom nine were from Hyderabad,” says Jayanta Mondal, who led the group. He works as an architect with an IT company in the city, loves to trek and is passionate about photography.
At 1,712 metres, Kumara Parvatha is the highest peak in Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats. It is located 20 km from Somwarpet in the Northern part of Kodagu district. It is the sixth highest peak in Karnataka and is known to be the toughest to climb in the region. The starting point of the trek is Kukke Subramanya, located in Subramanya village in this region.
“I always wanted to trek in the Western Ghats and grabbed this opportunity. I have done six treks with this group so far,” says Shraddha Bajaj, a frequent trekker.
“It was truly amazing to trek over the mighty Kumara Parvata. Despite steep climbs, rocky patches and leeches, we enjoyed the scenic views,” adds another trekker, Digvijay from Hyderabad.
