Actress turns negative for her next romantic flick

Known for her roles in Madhur Bhandarkar films, dusky beauty Mugdha Godse will break the ice in her next ‘Ishq Ne Krazy Kiya Re’ as she plays a grey role for the first time ever. Ahead of the release of her next, we caught up with her for a quick chat.
How did you land a role in ‘Ishq Ne Krazy Kiya Re’?
Director Naresh Malhotra had approached me for some other film but it didn’t work out and later he came up with this script. I signed this film because of the strength of the role.

Tell us something about your character ‘Esha’?
I am playing a grey role in the film. I am like a woman in power who is manipulative. Esha is the channel head who is on a power trip but there is a soft side to her as well. I don’t feel one should do only goody roles.
Are you nervous to get categorised in the vamp roles post this film?
Time has changed in the industry. I am open to different kind of roles. So much good work is happening in the industry and I want to work with good directors.

Were you skeptical of signing Naresh Malhotra’s film since he is directing after 12 years?
I wasn’t skeptical at all. Naresh might sound old school but the way he narrates the story, it is so much like today’s time. He has crafted each character so well in the film. I believe his basics of direction are perfect.

You were known to do films with Madhur Bhandarkar, when are we seeing the duo again?
I have done bits and pieces in his films and the magic happened. Imagine if I’ll do a full fledged film with him. I love working with Madhur and hopefully will work with him soon.
Priyanka Chopra played a negative role in Aitraaz, you have worked with her in ‘Fashion’ and are all in praises for her on Twitter, any tips you took from her for this character?
I feel there is a grey side in everyone. May be this was the reason that I could play this role with so much ease. It’s about power and attitude of your role.
Is it a mere coincidence that your friend cum co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh is also playing a grey role in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’?
Even though we stay in same building, I haven’t seen him for a while (Laughs). It’s such a nice coincidence. I am glad that we all get chances to showcase something different on screen.
