Bollywood actors are expensive: Prabhu Deva

After Singh Is Bliing, Prabhudheva is producing three films down South. In a chat with us, Prabhu shared, “Yes, I am producing three South films. I’ve just started. I am new (to this) so I have to do it correctly. Everyone (working on these films) is well-known there except for one of the films, which has all newcomers.”

So will he be taking any of the big Bollywood actors he’s worked with to the South for his films there? “They are too expensive,” Prabhu said, laughing. “I would be happy to, if they are free and the script so demands.” Of course, he could do the reverse and make a Bollywood film with South film stars — something Prabhu said he’d “love to do”.

Since he’s directed so many Bollywood blockbusters, is producing a Hindi film on the anvil as well? “Bollywood is too big for me… It’s too big. Producing is a different (ball game),” he explained.

Singh Is Bliing is Prabhu’s second successful outing with Akshay Kumar. He previously directed him in Rowdy Rathore.
