Handle your own matters on former president N Srinivasan: SC tells BCCI
Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Monday has declined to interfere with BCCI’s view that its former president N Srinivasan suffers from conflict of interest and be disqualified from meetings.
"If you have taken a decision on Srinivasan, stick to it. If Srinivasan has a problem, let him seek remedy," the top court said during a hearing.
The Board had sought legal remedy from the apex court for the clarification on Srinivasan’s participation in the Board meetings. The Tamil Nadu strongman gate crashed the board’s Working Committee meeting in Kolkata on August 28 which forced late president Jagmohan Dalmiya to adjourn the session.
According to media reports the SC has clearly mentioned that’s it’s the BCCI’s prerogative to decide whether the conflict still exists or not. BCCI’s lawyers have been saying that Srinivasan can’t attend its Board meetings despite transfer of CSK shares.
Meanwhile, the ICC chairman has withdrawn the perjury case against BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur. Srinivasan, in a plea last week had stated that Thakur furnished “false and misleading” information in order to attend the Working Committee meeting.
Newly-elected president Shashank Manohar, during delivering his reforms requested Srinivasan to withdraw the perjury case against Thakur. The Vidarbha lawyer wants all Board matters to be solved internally and not in courtrooms.
