Telugu Desam, BJP tie-up for civic polls

The TD and BJP have been allies in TS and AP since the 2014 polls

Hyderabad: TD Telangana Committee President L. Ramana on Sunday hinted that the TD will continue its alliance with the BJP in the coming GHMC elections.

The TD and BJP have been allies in TS and AP since the 2014 polls. Ramana assured Naidu that Telugu Desam workers would not sleep until the party comes to power in Telangana and that the TD’s victory march would start with a win in GHMC elections. “Like we opposed YSR and his faction politics, we will oppose KCR. If it was YSR’s family then it is K-4 now (KCR’s family),” he said.

Later, Ramana got support from Naidu who sought to remind TD cadres in the city that it was he who developed Hyderabad, brought IT companies from all over the world and developed Cyberabad.

Ramana lashed out at TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his lack of human approach towards students and farmers. As many as 1,200 students laid down their lives for TS but the KCR government has identifed only 400 of them.

"Farmers in Telangana trusted K. Chandrasekhar Rao. They invested money in agriculture by taking loans at huge interest rates. Now, they have lost faith in the TRS government and KCR and are committing suicide. TD leaders toured Telangana and distributed Rs 3 crore ex-gratia to the families of farmers who committed suicide," he said.

Even the GO brought out by the TRS government to pay Rs 6 lakh ex-gratia to the families of farmers is an achievement of TD. The TD exerted pressure and launched an uncompromising struggle due to which the TRS government issued the GO, Ramana said and added the TD will not rest until TRS government pays ex-gratia to all the 144 families of farmers.
