Hyderabad: As the syllabus for Telangana state Public Service Commission has become more Telangana-specific, OU has taken the lead to provide its students free coaching in subjects with focus on Telangana.
Many students from OU had complained about non-availability of books on literature, socio-cultural heritage, economy and policies with special focus on Telangana.
A senior professor from the Arts College said, “With the change in syllabus, there is a lot of focus on TS in various subjects. Earlier, all subjects were taught with AP in focus and TS was ignored. For example, in Telugu literature before bifurcation, the Telugu poet Palakuriki Somanatha from Telangana was ignored. The focus was completely on Nannayya. Now students will have to learn in-depth about Somanatha. Such changes will be made in all subjects, which need to be taught afresh and books have to be published on them.”
