Dadri lynching: BJP accuses Akhilesh government of being biased
Lucknow: UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has assured the family of the Dadri victim that he would make sure that justice is done and the culprits are brought to book.
He has also increased the compensation given to the family to Rs 30 lakh and Rs 5 lakhs each to the three brothers of the victim. Following this, the BJP has now accused the Akhilesh government of minority appeasement.
BJP MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, said on Sunday that the state government was appeasing the minority community and innocent people were being framed for the lynching of a Muslim man in Dadri last week.
He alleged that state government was acting in a biased manner like it had done during violence in western Uttar Pradesh two years ago and was shielding those who had ‘slaughtered a cow’.
“The state government had taken the accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots in a state plane to Lucknow and the same is being repeated now. When people are killed, the government does not bother because it has different sets of rules for different communities,” he said.
Mr Som also questioned why the state government had allowed AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi to visit the village and spread ‘communal frenzy’. BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj reacted sharply over the compensation amount and said when a Hindu dies, he does not even get Rs 20,000.
