Watch: Your DNA determines if you are a pessimist or not
Both pessimism and optimism have their pros and cons
Whether you are a person who always sees a glass as half –full or someone who has a negative attitude towards life, your outlook may be something that is determined by factors out of your control.
This video by AsapScience tells us how genetics may be responsible for your pessimistic world views and how this could even your life expectancy. It also explains how optimistic people are less likely to be hospitalised after coronary artery bypass surgery as well as are more likely to perform better at school and be wealthier than their pessimistic peers.
However, the video also adds that since pessimists avoid risky behaviour, they are more likely to live longer.
