MCI move may not end multiple tests
The MCI decision would be a major relief for parents and students
Thiruvananthapuram: The Medical Council of India’s decision to go for a single test for MBBS and MD admissions may not end the multiplicity of tests. It is not clear whether this test would be applicable to the BDS as only the Dental Council of India can take a decision on dental entrance.
Moreover, the state government would have to conduct its own test for allied medical courses. However, the MCI decision would be a major relief for parents and students for they can avoid monetary loss and the rigours of numerous examinations. At present, students have to write all-India medical entrance examinations, state entrance examinations and that of other national institutions.
The MCI, which does not have any experience in conducting the entrance examinations, is likely to hand over the job to an experienced agency. Otherwise, the All-India Pre-Medical /Pre - Dental Test (AIPMT) test conducted by the CBSE can be made the common test.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has also announced the entrance examinations for admission to professional degree courses for 2016 to be held from April 25 to 28, 2016.
The time table is as follows: Engineering: April 25: Paper I: Physics and chemistry: 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. Paper II: April 26: Mathematics: 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. Medical: April 27: Paper 1: Chemistry and physics: 10 a.m.- 12.30 p.m. April 28: Paper II: Biology, 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
