CPM gropes in dark, says CM Oommen Chandy

UDF’s dist. convention held in Thrissur
Thrissur: The upcoming polls to the civic bodies in the state will prove that the management of sorts done by BJP, is not going to bear fruit in the social and political climate in Kerala, says Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He said that CPM in the state had failed to convince its own cadre and was groping in darkness. CM was speaking at the district convention of the Congress held here on Saturday.
KPCC president V M Sudheeran lashed out the CPM during the meet saying that the communist party had lost focus and was now aping the Sangh Parivar organisations in its effort to resist RSS and BJP. "Such a move by CPM is going to backfire. The party's way of blindly opposing Congress will benefit BJP. CPM is going the receive an electoral drubbing similar to that of West Bengal in Kerala," Sudheeran said.
It was for the first time, after the murder of local Congress leader A C Hanifa of Chavakkad in August, a major party event is held in the district and the party workers from both the factions attended. The murder had triggered a factional feud, with 'A' group leaders targeting 'I' faction for the murder. But at the convention, they tried to play down the factional politics, citing that the Haneefa murder was an isolated incident.
