Bengaluru madrasas to teach maths, Kannada
BENGALURU: A small section of intellectuals and former bureaucrats belonging to Muslim community have come forward to make an effort to bring transparency as well as impart partially modern education through Madrasas in Bengaluru.
Speaking to reporters at Centre for Community Development and Masjid-E-Ummul-Hasnain here, former IAS officer, Mohammed Sanaullah, said, “We are trying our best to teach Mathematics and Kannada as subjects at the Madrasa in Indiranagar along with imparting religious teachings. We are making an effort to ally fears about Madrasas among people of other communities.”
He added that Madrasas function as private institutions, either affiliated to Charity Commission or State Wakf Board, or independent.
“Most of these institutions focus on religious teachings. We plan to introduce two most important subjects Kannada and Mathematics in the beginning. Apart from this, we also encourage students to take up distance education system to be on par with other students in the state. We are also emphasising students to take up private SSLC examinations, if any child passes through one of these boards he or she will be entitled to get admissions in PUC directly. Then on he or she can directly mingle with modern education system seemlessly,” he observed.
