Rs 80K collected during run
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Marathon runner Bahuleyan is on a special mission to help poor cancer patients.
Bahuleyan completed a special run from Thiruvananthpuram to Kasargod the other day, marking the culmination of his nearly one month campaign aimed at helping poor patients.
During the course of his run, he collected Rs 80,000 which would be distributed as financial assistance to poor cancer patients who are struggling to meet treatment expenses.
The marathoner started his campaign in the first week of September and covered Kollam, Alapuzha, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur before concluding his run at Kasargod.
During the campaign, Bahuleyan used to speak at street corner meetings appealing to the people to contribute generously towards poor cancers patients relief fund.
“I received a huge response especially in Thrissur and Ernakulam districts. People used to listen to my appeal patient and contribute for the cause,” he recollected.
This was the third edition of his run for a human cause. In 2008, Bahuleyan ran 660 km from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod and entered the Limca Book of Records.
