Namma Bengaluru for zero tolerance to graft in BBMP
Bengaluru: Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF)-Citizen Partnership (NBF-CP), a citizen and civil society led partnership, has come together to fight against issues plaguing Bengaluru. The partnership has launched the Citizens’ Charter for Bengaluru. Their aim: to reclaim Bengaluru from corruption, vested interests and to ensure the recently-formed BBMP delivers its promises to citizens.
One of those participating in the fight for zero corruption, a transparent BBMP and citizen-centric governance in Bengaluru, on Thursday, was Mr. V. Balasubramanian, retired IAS officer and a key member of the partnership. He said, “The current structure of the BBMP will not be able to deliver on the objectives of a corruption-free and efficient administration. There is an urgent need to upgrade the administrative capacity and efficiency in the BBMP. The Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) should be given more powers.”
Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO NBF said, “The chronic maladministration and mis-governance of Bengaluru will be detrimental to the future of Bengaluru. It is therefore imperative that we citizens of various walks of life and institutions working towards a better Bengaluru collectively demand the good governance that the city deserves. ”
Kathyayini Chamaraj, Trustee, CIVIC, added that “Internal control mechanism for the Budget and expenditure should be strengthened and implemented effectively. The auditing of all works by internal and external audit mechanism should be implemented effectively.”
