Central Administrative Tribunal slaps fine on Centre
The Bench expressed displeasure and reminded him that the Centre has availed 13 adjournments so far
Hyderabad: Expressing displeasure at the Centre in seeking repeated adjournments on the plea of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner Somesh Kumar, the Hyderabad Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal on Thursday slapped a Rs 500 fine on the Centre for granting adjournment.
A two-member bench comprising B. Venkateswara Rao (judicial) and Ms Ranjana Chowdary (administration) was hearing the plea of Mr Somesh Kumar challenging his allotment to the AP cadre.
B. Narayana Reddy, assistant solicitor general appearing for the Centre urged the court to grant some more time to explain the Centre’s stance on the plea. The Bench expressed displeasure and reminded him that the Centre has availed 13 adjournments so far. While pointing out that it would not be proper to cause inordinate delay in explaining the rationale behind its cadre division exercise, the Bench said they are finally adjourning the matter to October 7.
