CBI nails Dayanidhi Maran phone line scam
CBI sought cancellation of Mr Maran’s bail as was trying to evade the probe
New Delhi: Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the CBI asserted in the Supreme Court that the former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran had a fraudulent service telephone connection in his resident and used the service for transmission of data for his family owned Sun TV.
On August 10, the Madras High Court had cancelled bail granted to Mr Maran at the CBI’s request and Mr. Maran was given three days to surrender. On August 12, the apex court stayed his arrest and slammed the CBI for its move to arrest Mr Maran.
In its response to Mr. Maran’s appeal against the High Court order, the CBI sought cancellation of Mr Maran’s bail as was trying to evade the probe.
