Chiru in Kathi remake?
It’s now more or less confirmed that Chiranjeevi will be making the remake of the Tamil film Kathi. A source close to the Chiranjeevi family says that the actor is set to start the shooting soon. “Though initially, Vijay and Murugadoss were not interested in selling the remake rights, producer Tagore Madhu mediated and got the rights,” says the source. Tagore Madhu was originally supposed to release the Tamil hit film starring Vijay and Samantha in Telugu. He, however, changed his mind as he wanted to make a remake of the film.
Murugadoss, who had directed the Tamil version, has also agreed to help make a few changes to suit the image of Chiranjeevi in Telugu. Puri Jagannadh, who is still hopeful of directing Chiranjeevi, will be disappointed again as the megastar wants V.V. Vinayak to direct the remake. “Vinayak and Chiranjeevi have a good understanding and they have worked together before. So Chiranjeevi asked Vinayak to direct it,” adds the source. Currently, Vinayak is directing Akhil Akkineni’s debut film Akhil and once the film releases on October 22, he will be free to start Chiru’s film.
