15 per cent less rains in southern peninsula
IMD had made a forecast for the entire country
Hyderabad: While Adilabad recorded 20 per cent deficit rains, Karimnagar received 18 per cent less rains this season. The southern peninsula on the whole recorded 15 per cent deficient rainfall. “The official period for the southwest monsoon season in India is between June 1 and September 30. However, the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon will take more time,” said IMD Hyderabad assistant meteorologist Narasimha Rao. IMD had made a forecast of 88 per cent “deficient” rainfall for the entire country though the monsoon ended with a deficiency of 14 per cent.
