Three Delhi natives held for smuggling 3.6 kg gold

They came by an Air India flight from Dubai via Mumbai

Kochi: Three Delhi natives were arrested by the sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) with 3.6 kg of gold as they came out of the Cochin international airport on Wednesday morning.

The arrested have been identified as Virendra Varma, Siros Paramveer and Ajay Kumar. They came by an Air India flight from Dubai via Mumbai.

While Virendra Varma was an international passenger who came from Dubai, the rest two boarded the flight from Mumbai and they tried to smuggle out the gold through the domestic terminal of the airport.

Acting on a tip-off the DRI officials intercepted them and arrested them. The gold was in the form of 17 tower bolts and was reported to be concealed in the baggage, sources said.
