Eram group to help heart recipient Achadan in rest of his life
KOCHI: Chalakkudy Pariyaram native Mathew Achadan, recipient of the heart transplanted from advocate Neelakanda Sharma, a Thiruvananthapuram native, has become double lucky with Palakkad native Siddeek Ahmed, who owns the Eram group, deciding to support him and his family for their travel in the rest of the life.
Siddeek who provided Rs 6 lakh for the heart transplantation has now promised a job for Mathew as he becomes fit to do a job.
He has also promised to give financial assistance for theeducation of the two children of Mathew Achadan, Amal who is studying in 10th standard and Anna who is studying in 7th standard.
Achadan was recently discharged from Lisie Hospital where the heart was transplanted by heart surgeon Dr Jose Chacko Periyapuram.
As World Heart Day was observed on Tuesday, a function was held in Lisie Hospital in Kochi to mark the occasio. Palakkad MP M. B. Rajesh and Hibi Eden MLA visited Dr Jose Chacko Periyapuram along with Siddeek Ahmed in the day.
They also visited Mathew Achadan at the house on SRM Road where he is currently convalescing with wife Bindu. Achadan was running an autorickshaw before he underwent the transplantation while his wife was engaged in stitching works to support him.
Rajesh highlighted the gesture of helping Achadan find a new life as a prime example of people from different regions joining hands for a common good.
He said it was heartening to see people forgetting caste and creed differences on such occasions. Hibi Eden also said such gestures augur well for the society and prompts more people to support the hapless. "The Heart Day gets a special meaning when spent with such people who give a new meaning to life," Hibi said.
