Hogenakkal falls is off-limits to picnickers

Dharmapuri: Entry for picnickers into Hogenakkal falls has been banned for the fourth day on Tuesday because of the increased inflow from the Cauvery.
On Tuesday, the inflow into Hogenakkal was 20,000 cusecs, mainly because of rainfall in the catchment areas of the Cauvery river.
Following the surge in inflow, the Dharmapuri district administration has banned the entry of picnickers to the falls area. The ban was first imposed on Saturday following a sudden gush of 31,000 cusecs of water.
Heavy rains have increased the water level of the lakes across Dharmapuri district. Four of the 74 lakes in Dharmapuri have already reached the brim, while the other lakes are fast filling up.
Dharmapuri received 15 mm of rainfall, Harur 8 mm, Pappireddipatti 7.40 mm, Palacode 3 mm, Pennagaram 2 mm, Hogenakkal 2.40 mm and Marandahalli 7.00 mm.
In Krishnagiri, the rainfall brought relief as Denkanikottai received 2 mm of rainfall, Poochamapalli 24 mm, Penukondapuram 30.30 mm, Bargur 10.6 mm, Krishnagiri 2.2mm and Nedungal 15 mm.
